Targeted Coaching is intensive and narrowly focused executive coaching designed to assist a leader examine, understand, enhance and integrate a specific behavior as an effective executive level competency. Seen as an abbreviated form of Development Coaching, this form of coaching is often of shorter duration.
Targeted Coaching follows three standard phases. These phases involve a partnership between the participating executive, their sponsor and the executive coach:
• Enrollment and Focus – the phase when information is gathered, a specific objective is set, and the coaching partnership is confirmed
• Planning Design – the phase when the plan is reduced to action steps and an Executive Development Plan (EDP) is confirmed
• Development Execution – the phase when the EDP is implemented, reviewed, refined, and continued toward completion
